Barking Dogs

Regards our barking dog complaint: When Officer Roudebush visited with the offending neighbor, explained that we are tolerant of a couple of minutes for the dog to bark it wants back in, but that we were serious about pressing charges if the dog barked for more than a reasonable time, say five minutes, the neighbors finally took care of the dog. Actually, I doubt that they still have it.

IN OUR CASE THE PROCEDURE WORKED BEFORE WE HAD TO RESORT TO FILING A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES.

What Community Police Officer Roudebush told a neighbor:
  1. WHEN THE DOGS ARE BARKING, phone 911, day or night. The police need to witness them barking. You must put your name on the complaint. (I do not know if the dog owner can find out your name.)
  2. The police will give you a case # and the phone number of Animal Control.
  3. With the case #, call Animal Control, which is responsible for enforcing the noise laws.
  4. Animal Control will issue a citation or warning.
  5. If the noise continues, phone Animal Control again.
