Westlink Neighborhood Assoc.
General Membership Meeting, 3-16-10
 Westlink Methodist Church

Meeting was called to order at 7:10pm by Ron Nutt.  All board members were present except Amanda West.

Secretary's minutes and Treasurer's reports were approved as read.

Officer Brad Haught reported that the crime activity in our area was down.  Some of the biggest problems are still garage doors being left open, and incidences of vandalism.

Guest speaker was Cynthia Berner-Harris from the Wichita Public Library. She warned of an interruption of service in the Westlink branch in the month of May for some badly needed remodeling, which will include some self-check-out machines. These changes will improve service and speed up the check-out process. She also discussed the long-term building plan for the Central library that will be built where Watkins was.
The estimated cost for the new library is 48 million. She then answered questions from the floor.

The Memorial Day ice cream social was again announced, and volunteers were solicited.

The 2nd annual pancake and sausage feed was also announced. The date is Oct 30, and, of course volunteers are needed.
Chris Cakes will again provide the food and the entertainment. It is to be held at the Church of Christ at Central and Valleyview.

We will once again hold a Christmas lights judging. All residents in our boundaries are eligible, and judging will take place by the15th of December. Winners will be notified on or before Christmas Eve.

A new event is being introduced. There will be concessions available for purchase, but residents are also welcome to bring their own if they choose.

Our first multi cultural event will be a celebration of Mexican Independence Day. We will hold our event at Harvest Park on Sept 19, the time to be announced. Volunteers are needed. Please see Rodrigo Aguirre Sr. if you are able to help in any way.

Neighborhood Clean-up will be in the Fall, and the area will be South of Central. John Poettker is again heading up that committee, and volunteers are needed.
