Westlink Neighborhood Assoc. General Membership Meeting July 20, 2010 Westlink United Methodist Church Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by president Ron Nutt. All board members present except Amanda West. Secretary's minutes were approved as read. Treasurer reported a balance of $2,542.03 with a few ad revenues not yet received. That report was approved as well. Tony Decker showed his prototype of yard signs, and asked for volunteers of those willing to house them and put them out at the appropriate times. The idea met with much approval. A few members volunteered their locations. Officer Brad Haught gave his report on crime activity in the area. Much of the discussion centered around a stabbing incident at Buffalo Park earlier in the month. There have been several larcenies in the same area, and speeding remains an issue on Waddington and Delano. Brenda Salvati from WIN gave a report on the Neighborhood University, including the NUSA conference in Little Rock where they have great recycling incentives in their community. She also encouraged members to attend the Neighborhood University on Sept 18 at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Plans for the Sept 19 Mexican Independence Day Fiesta in Harvest Park were announced and help was solicited. Volunteers were again solicited for the Neighborhood Cleanup that will be on Oct 2 on the South side of Central. The Pancake and sausage feed will be held Oct 23, and volunteers are needed there as well. The Christmas Decoration Judging will take place around the middle of December, with prizes being awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Tony Decker introduced a new survey for members to answer. Those at the meeting were asked to leave their completed surveys with us, and Joyce Wood said she would put it on the website for folks to fill out online. She would also like to include on our website a resource list pertinent to our neighborhood. Meeting adjourned at 8:40pm. |
