Meeting was called to order at 7:06pm by WNA president John Poettker. Officers present were John Poettker, President and Sheryl Nutt, Secretary. Board members present were Jane Byrnes, Scott Fugarino, and Tony Decker. There were about 42 members present. VP Carla Lee, and Treasurer, Pat Ream were attending a Citizens Academy. They will address the Board when they have completed it. Carolyn Elmore provided some delicious and beautiful home-made cookies for refreshments. Other members were encouraged to volunteer to provide cookies for the next general meeting. Amanda West was recognized for providing the printing of our last Link Letter. Kay Drennen, from the City of Wichita water dept. addressed the membership about water conservation. She showed us several items that the average person can easily install in their own homes for that purpose. She also took questions from the attendees, including a discussion of the Equus Beds. John Poettker gave his progress report on the Westlink ditch cleanup. The membership was encouraged to volunteer for various committees, such as recycling, neighborhood clean-up, Link Letter distribution, and others. Sign up sheets were provided and pointed out. Tony Decker informed everyone that WNA T-shirts are available for purchase. The group makes a very modest profit on each shirt, selling them for only $10.00 each. Pat Ream submitted a statement, read by John Poettker, notifying the members that there will be an election of board members at our January 15, 2008 general meeting. She asked for anyone interested in running for a position to notify her. Jane Byrnes announced a Neighborhood Christmas party to be held on Dec 18, at Los Cocos, 13th & Tyler from 7-9 pm. There will be a cash bar. The treasurer's report reflected a balance of $550.00 as of 10-15-07. Officer Brad Haught of the Wichita Police department gave statistics on crime in the 199th district, which encompasses a larger area, but includes our WNA boundaries. One major area of concern is citizens who leave their garage doors open. An announcement was made about the Neighbors Helping Neighbors committee, and one resident expressed a need for help with lawn work this Fall. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm. |
